Finca La Jara is a beautiful property set amidst 50 acres of private grounds comprising of avocado plantations and pine forests, with breathtaking views of the Crestillina mountains and the river Genal.  A typical Andalucian country house, thoughtfully decorated throughout with antiques, paintings and bright Moroccan rugs – a real delight.

Large wooden doors open into a hallway, and steps lead down to a large, light living area, comfortably furnished with sofas, armchairs and a coffee table.  There is a huge open fireplace, a television with DVD player, and a CD music system.  The walls are hung with paintings of the surrounding countryside, and antique terracotta floors, coupled with thick walls give a cool feel in the hotter summer months.   French windows open out to the extensive covered terrace, which looks out with uninterrupted views over the avocado plantation to the river below.

The pretty, high-ceilinged kitchen has a dining table seating 8, and is well equipped with a microwave, electric hob with oven, dishwasher, sink and fridge-freezer.  The washing machine and dryer are located outside, to the side of the house.  Doors open out from the kitchen to a partly covered dining terrace, with a table and banquette seating – a lovely place for alfresco dining in the cool of the evening.

Downstairs there is the spacious master bedroom, with en- suite bathroom, separate walk-in shower, wc and double basins.  There are large built in wardrobes, and French doors open to a private terrace, looking out towards the pine forests.

There is a second double bedroom, with built-in wardrobes and an armchair and chest of draws, and a pretty twin bedroom, these two rooms share a spacious shower room, with large walk-in shower, double basins and wc. Adjacent there is also a separate cloakroom, with wc.

Stairs lead up to a cosy sitting room, with a sofa, coffee table and television. Adjacent is a twin bedroom, with fantastic views of the mountains beyond.  There is an en-suite bathroom, with bath, wc, bidet and basin. 

Outside, the large terrace has comfortable sofas, wicker chairs and a coffee table, affording fabulous views across the estate, to the coast beyond.  A short walk away, is the swimming pool, measuring 11 x 4m, with a full filtration system.  To one side is a shaded pergola, with sun-beds, and a shower. 

This is a wonderfully peaceful, secluded place to stay, and yet close to the pretty white village of Gaucin, with its numerous shops, restaurants and bars – also within easy reach of the coast, beaches and golf courses.
